Designed For: Skaters who have completed a learn-to-skate class and are interested in hockey
Prerequisite: Completion of a learn-to-skate class

Waukesha County Hockey Player Development
Learn to Skate
Cost $75
Learn to Skate: 5 weeks. Focuses on basic skating skills. Pucks and sticks are not used. This class is for children with little to no ice skating experience. Participants will develop confidence on the ice by learning basic skating skills, such as forward/backward skating, turns, stops, falling, and recovery. Skate rental is available for this class at no additional charge.
Learn to Play Hockey: This class is for children who have completed a learn-to-skate class and intend to play hockey. Using the skating skills developed in the previous class, players will add sticks and pucks to start learning the fundamental skills needed to join a youth hockey league.

WCYHA, founded in 1974, is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the sport of youth hockey and run by dedicated volunteers. We are an affiliate of USA Hockey and the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association. We currently serve children in a defined territory, determined by WAHA, in the following school districts: Kettle Moraine, Mukwonago, portions of New Berlin (New Berlin West High School boundary), Oconomowoc, Pewaukee, and Waukesha (except Town of Brookfield).
